The Farnborough Airshow organizers cut the Red Arrows aerobatic display to only flypasts. This means, the Red Arrows will perform flyovers only in different formations during the airshow, including the scheduled for 11 July flypast with F-35.
“An aerobatics display by the Red Arrows has been cancelled because it was no longer considered appropriate in the wake of the Shoreham air disaster” – stated from Farnborough Airshow.
On 22 August 2015, a vintage jet aircraft crashed during a display at the Shoreham Airshow, UK, killing 11 people and injuring 16.The aircraft Hawker Hunter T7, failed to complete a loop and crashed onto vehicles on the A27 trunk road. The pilot, Andy Hill, survived the crash, and few months later, he discharged from hospital. Because of the crash, all civilian registered Hawker Hunter aircraft in the United Kingdom were grounded, and restrictions were put in place on civilian vintage jet aircraft displays over land, limiting them to flypasts and banning high speed aerobatics.
“However, the high speed and dynamic nature of the traditional Red Arrows' display is no longer appropriate due to the large amounts of local housing, business areas and major transport links underneath the planned display area” - said from Red Arrows.
