The Slovakian Air Force aerobatic display team "White Albatrosses" (Biele Albatrosy) were formed in early 1991. The team's first appearance was a fly-pass of the three L-39 Albatross, during the opening of the 9th World Parachuting Championship at Lucenec-Bolkovce airfield on Aug 3, 1991. At that time, Slovakia was a part of Czechoslovakia, so the team was officially part of the Czechoslovakian Air Force.
The "White Albatrosses" team was a unit of the 2nd Air Training Regiment based in Kosice. All the team's planes were painted in white, red and blue colors and carried Czechoslovakian Air Force insignia. All aircraft were equipped with smoke generators capable of releasing the same colors of smoke.
In 1992, the team moved to the Prevov Air Base, during reconstruction work at the Kosice airfield. Later that year, the team performed its first real demonstration, with six L-39 trainers at the Moravian-Silesian Air Show in Prerov.
In 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and the team became part of the Slovakian Air Force.
In 1994, the "White Albatrosses" visited the foreign countries of Denmark, Great Britain and Hungary for the first time. A year later, a seventh aircraft was added to the team as a solo plane.
On July 17, 1996 during training flight, the team's #2 and #6 aircraft collided in mid-air resulting in the crash of #2, whose pilots ejected successfully. The other aircraft landed successfully but with a lot of damage.
In 1997, the team again returned to its first home base of Kosice.
On June 3, 2000, during the Sliac airshow, pilot error caused one of the team's L-39's to crash with fatal results for the pilot Major Lubos Novak.
For the 2001 season, the "White Albatrosses" were first reduced to five aircraft but then, at the end of the year, they were disbanded.
During the "White Albatrosses" existence, an An-26 transport aircraft painted in team's colors was attached to the team.
