Russian Knights pilot died in crash today

One of the Russian Knights Su-27 aircraft crashed near Muranovo village, near Moscow, today killing the pilot.

The pilot Major Sergey Eremenko tries to avoid crash over village and did not attempt to eject.

The team performed in the morning over the Ashukino village near Moscow, in occasion of pilots’ memorial opening. When the aircraft returned to the home base in Kubinka about 10:45 the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses told that aircraft blown up in the sky before crashed to the ground.

The last fatal crash of Russian Knights was in On Aug 16, 2009 when two of the team aircraft crashed, killing team leader, 45 years old Colonel Igor Tkachenko. The two Russian Knights - Su-27 and Su-27UB collided in mid-air during practice flight in preparation for the MAKS 09 airshow. The other aircraft pilots ejected safely.

Just one week ago on June 2nd, both US military aerobatic teams crashed. One of the Thunderbirds F-16 aircraft crashed after a flyover in Colorado, as the pilot succeed to eject.

Two hours later Blue Angels F/A-18 crashed in practice flight at Smyrna, but this time the pilot Capt. Jeff Kuss died.
