USAF Demonstration Squadron Thunderbirds will test biofuel on both solo F-16s during Joint Services Open Day at Andrews AFB, Maryland from 20 to 22 May.
The biofuel used from US Air Force is composed of plant seed (camelina), animal fat (beef tallow) and various waste oils and grease.
Thunderbirds will use a mix 50-50 of biofuel and jet kerosene. Only #5 and #6 will burn this fuel, while the rest four F-16s from diamond formation will use regular jet fuel.
The USAF authorities hopes to reduce the dependence of rising oil priced using biofuel to all planes by 2016.
