Yellowjacks Folland Gnat

Yellowjacks was the Royal Air Force aerobatic display team.

The team was formed in 1964 flying five yellow-painted training Folland Gnat aircraft from Fourth Air School.

All team's planes were equipped with white smoke generators. The aim was to demonstrate the abilities of the new UK built Folland Gnat airplane in Farnborough Airshow.

For the commander of the team was appointed the ex-Black Arrows member, Fl. Lt. Lee Jones.

The team was called Yellowjacks from the pilot's call-sign and existed until 1965.

The Yellowjacks was the Red Arrows precursor.
